GOOD WORDS

"I have a confession: the entire time I was taking Corina Kesler's class on utopian literature (COMPLIT241) I thought she was a professor. Her style was so engaging and efficacious that I figured she had been teaching for years. None of my GSIs before or after her exhibited such poise, control, and maturity in the classroom. It was more than a year later that I found out she was a graduate student working toward a Ph.D.

Corina also unhesitatingly went above and beyond the call of a normal GSI by frequently talking to students after and outside of class for extended periods of time, listening to their questions, addressing their concerns, and just being "cool" with us. In a word, Corina had an uncanny ability to "come down" to our level (instead of speaking down to us) showing that she could relate to undergrads while maintaining a professional/intellectual air that attracted us, making us want to improve our minds and study habits so that we could be like her. I have never seen a GSI simultaneously appeal to the masses while successfully bringing his/her mission of being a GSI to such fruition as in Corina's class."
